Microscopy: (1) Sections show foci of pieces of endocervical lining epithelium with large foci of squamous metaplastic changes &
dispersed pieces of smooth muscle cells proliferation with moderate atypical change with more than 10 mitotic figures/10HPF (2): Sections show mostly dispersed strips of endometrial epithelium dispersed pieces of smooth muscle cells proliferation with moderate atypical change with more than 10 mitotic figures/10HPF superficial strips of inactive endometrium without atypia & mitoses, necrotic isolated glandular fragments, unaccompanied by stroma. Foci of cystic atrophic changes are seen
Diagnosis: (1) Uterus cervical mass, vaginal excisional biopsy :
- Chronic cervicitis with squamous metaplasia, involved by Leiomyosarcoma
(2): D&C, curettage biopsy:
- Atrophic endometrium, involved by Leiomyosarcoma
Note:For confirmation of Leiomyosarcoma involvement, excisional biopsy is mandatory. All slides & blocks will be delivered to the patient
